Anyone else feel this way about how the magazine is published now? I remember back when I used to look forward to it every month and it used to be full of useful information and had more to offer us readers. Now there's nothing to it and not worth the $5.99 per month they're asking.....
I'm disgusted with this mag and just as close to cancelling my subscription altogether......

yeah, it's crap now. I doubt I'll ever buy it again. it used to be informative, have great articles, and have so much little funny stuff in it that I almost couldn't wait to reread an issue. at least I still have my old back-issues to reread.

This.
Also I didn't even know they are still printing it anymore. We could probably collectively come up with a better comic mag then they can.
I'd agree that it's crap now.
I was rummaging through some old boxes and found some issues from back in 99 or 2000 and they were 10 times better than the magazine now.
Every other article is about how hot Megan Fox is, how cool Wolverine and Brian Bendis are, how great Marvel is, and then the rest is filler about video games/movies/toys.

I haven't read Wizard in years, but when I did it was pre-internet and it was my only source for comic book news. Now I have the internet to get all my news on comics, so rather than wait a month to hear about the new *Insert title here* arc, I can just go on CBR or Newsarama and find out about it 10 minutes after it's announced.
Their humor was about 50% of why I bought the mag in the first place, but if that's gone, too, then that's a shame.

hate to break it to you, but wizard has been bad for a long time now, way before the format change. I have been clean and sober from wizard since november now and it feels great

That's exactly why I stopped buying it.

Couldn't agree more. They took everything that was great about Wizard (Casting Call, Side-Bars, Mego-Theatre, et al) and turned it into a monthly "Top 50" crapfest that really does have way too much Wolverine, hot-chick-of-the-month and BMB content.
Even picking up a copy of the new format makes me feel like I'm being cheated. It's so light and waifish in comparison to it's predecessor.

I can't believe the size difference, i compared issue 51 with a latest issue, and it's just unbelievable, however it's like this for alot of my fav mags, so many have just sold out to ads and skimped on other areas to stay in print. And i obviously helped contribute as I just go online for a lot of info instead of picking up mags i used to pick up.....

its not like wizard was so expensive. 5 bucks =\ i used to buy it every month til it became People Magazine for comic books. They tried so hard to sell you this image of comicbook-land as a mini-hollywood. I blame them for this newfound mentality of "the character is more important than the creator" nonsense im seeing more and more these days

.....uh, ok, ok. It was just the shipping label. :)
I just bought a bunch of great back issues from the late 19s/early 2000s for a quarter a piece at Steel City Con. ahh the good ol days. I used to love the Basic training sections.

It was such a great magazine. My neighbor was cleaning out her garage and found a bunch of her husband's old comics and mags and dropped a box off full of stuff. Included in the box were about a half a dozen mid-90s Wizard magazines. First of all, they used to be so effin' thick and just CHOCK FULL of content. The magazine as it is now is like a leaflet compared to how it used to be. Secondly, it was just so full of articles about EVERYBODY, not just the Big Two. What a difference and how pathetic it has become.

Toyfare has had similar trend too. I think its a combination of info being more widespread on internet and talent running off to different areas. Like how robot chicken has had ex toyfare guys, guys who went on to creative writing like adam patyk for instance, i think.
I still buy em tho. For toilet reading.

I was okay with it and accepting of the size difference and all figuring they had to save more $$$... but when they switched formats to the "Wizard 20" thing every month... and then two months ago there was like three articles and the rest of the mag was price guide! BLEAGH!!!
The last issue I got was the one with the Seth Rogen Green Hornet story in it and it was a halfway decent issue... but one more stinker and I'm done with it forever!
Also I miss the art covers.

Me too. They probably can't afford to get a big name to draw a cover.

They should probably check out Penciljack's PUMMEL and have some Heavies to covers for them. Actually, I'd rather see Lightweight art than another Hugh Jackman cover.

Pretty indicative of whats going on with the scene. Just look at the type coverage sdcc gets these days.

For what you're getting in Wizard's product lately... five bucks is like a chest of gold! Think of what else you could do with that five bucks... a feast at Taco Bell... a stack of bargain bin comics... one or two good new comics... a good movie you haven't seen in a while on DVD at Wal-Mart... half a cheap graphic novel... alot of adult comic readers don't just have five bucks to burn here and there and are discriminating with their comic money.

Hopefully you've reversed this and you meant to say "the creator is more important than the character" nonsense. Because that's the nonsense, not the other way.
