There have only been two. Unless you count Alien vs. Predator, but those are a separate franchise in my opinion. Predator 2 wasn't terrible (or at least, as terrible as Alien vs. Predator), but there's no reason to think that because they made one kind-of-bad installment twenty years ago they can't make another good one now.

Predator was set in a Jungle and Predator 2 was set in LA in the 90s. It had Crazy Jamaicans, New weapons and some cool moments towards the end. Those 2 were rated R and rocked.

Here's hoping R. Rod can bring it back to its roots and do something new at the same time.

I've never quite understood all the hatin' on Predator 2. I liked it, not quite as much as the first, but WAY more than anything I can think of that's been done with the franchise since then. It established some interesting stuff about the Predator society and rules that I think work well (like not killing pregnant prey, their sense of honor, etc).

predator 2 was silly imo but good cheesy late 80s/early 90s fun.. I liked the way they made the predators and the jamaicans look so similar, I remember seeing that as a kid and thinking they were trying to say the predators were from jamaica or something lol

Pred. 2 brought all those toys that fanboys love most about the Predators: the disk, the net launcher... Hell, even the different visions in their helmet HUD. PLUS, it had the Alien skull in the trophy room, spawning years and years of comics, merchandise and games to eventually culminate in AvP.

I like to think that without Predator 2, sci-fi horror would have been a pretty bleak landscape in fandom.

i think pred 2 failed because Danny glover isn't a big name or an action star or simply his charisma was flat. it should have had wesley snipes or Denzel

Denzel might have worked (I had no idea he was as old as he is, the man is 55!), though I don't think he was the big name they would have wanted at the time (I feel like he broke out big time as the title role in Malcolm X two years later).

Snipes doesn't have the right range, I think. Part of what makes Glover work in the role is the fact that he's almost the exact opposite of Schwarzenegger... he's not an action hero, he's just a cop. He's not even a super-cop. But he sticks to the fight with dogged persistence. Snipes would have worked in a super-cop action role, but not as a veteran cop who just won't quit.

Man, I kinda want to see it again, now, it's been at least ten years since I've seen it last. I'll have to go Netflix it or something.

Haha... I had to parody that handshake in Joe is Japanese, and I thought nobody would get it. But I showed the panels to a couple people and they all recognized it for what it was.
