kae_ae, I think what you submitted is fantastic...really beautiful, classic illustration look to it. It gives the kind of feeling that I must have been deep in a library somewhere and had seen that in a mythology tome. Bravo.

I'm sure Plog's going to get a lot of votes here--the polish is shiny, but I can't get past the big perspective and anatomy problems.

she's a cold hearted snake. cold cold cold hearted.....snaaake.

that's right, i went there....

I really liked Ridge's, reminds me of the painting of Aphrodite in the clamshell. Very classical, grabbing the gooseneck....well, that's just all the symbology i need!:P I think Kae_ae's got some nice energy to it, would have liked to see it as the artist envisioned in it's "finished" state. Scarammooney's arrangement and rendering reminds me of a Japanese style blind illustration.

nice works all

next to yours plog i like ridges too. but the rendering of the grass really bugged me and the fact that he was rendering the female form i'd like to have seen a better study of anatomy/musculature, which i thought was poor in relation to the overall effort.

nice palette overall tho.

hope to muster the enthusiasm to properly finish mine tho regardless of this poll. i dont often draw monsters and stuff.

Nice job everyone! Here's my brief thoughts on everyone's entries:
PLOG: Superlative work! Your version of Medusa is really unique and the composition is great.
McNeil: Interesting illustration! I like that you went outside of the Greek-mythology paradigm that everyone else went with!
Kae_Ae: cool drawing! Lots of energy.
kob13: cool centaur, dynamic pose!
T minus zero: nice colors!
Ridge: very nice! Anybody who draws a naked woman grabbing a swan's neck like that gets my vote!

PLOG- for the win. Great storytelling with your pic.
kae_ae- second place. I have to agree with Furmanjon- it has a great classical feel to it.
scmarooney- Excellent piece. That chimera would make a great tattoo.
k0b13- the yellow line really distracts from the rest of the picture and I would make his face more visible.
T minus zero- Nice to see you back in the game. Practice, practice, practice if you are going to overtake your big brother.
Ridge- my number three pick. Adding a little class to the competition with the digital oils. Bob Ross would be jealous.
